2 Teens 'Instigators' Of Riot At JeffCo Youth Facility: Cops
Four juveniles and 11 staff members were injured in an altercation at the Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center in Golden Wednesday night.
Golden, CO – Golden Police gave an update Thursday on the altercation that was described as a "riot" at the Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center in Golden Wednesday night.
According to police, eight juvenile inmates were were involved in the riot. Four of those juveniles had minor injuries. There were 19 staff members involved, and ten of the staff were injured – six of those with minor injuries and four were transported to the hospital, but had no serious injuries, a statement from Karlyn Tilley, the Golden Police spokeswoman, said.
Police said they believed "two juveniles instigated the riot," the statement said. Investigators said the two inmates had "not cooperated" with police. No charges have yet been filed, Tilley said.

Last month, on April 12, the center was locked down and searched after death threats were made against five guards, Fox31 reported. Rumors that someone was "going to throw a gun over the fence" had been intercepted by staff, and a search unearthed a homemade shank, but no gun. Two inmates were transferred to another facility, the station reported last month.
