Man Accused Of Attacking Homeless People In Golden
A man has been arrested in connection with attacks on two homeless men, police said.
GOLDEN, CO — A 51-year-old man is accused of attacking homeless people in Golden. Roger Allen Coderre faces felony assault charges after two men were beaten last week, the Golden Police department said. Coderre was arrested early Monday morning.
Using surveillance video, detectives found a black Nissan Pathfinder in connection with the attack, police said. The vehicle was later spotted in Golden, and officers pulled the Nissan over for a minor traffic violation. When the officers tried to ask the driver, Coderre, several questions, he refused and took off, police said.
Then an anonymous caller left police a tip on Monday. The call came from a middle school where Coderre was working, police said. Detectives found the caller suspicious and after investigating, discovered Coderre was the caller, police said. It's unclear whether he was trying to throw police off his track.
