Man Who Murdered Utah Student Extradited To Colorado

GOLDEN, CO — A man who murdered a University of Utah student has been sent to Golden to face a murder charge. He's being held at the Jefferson County Jail.

Austin Jeffrey Boutain, 25, is accused of killing 63-year-old Mitchell Ingle in Golden in 2017, according to the First Judicial District Attorney.

Boutain also faces more than a dozen other criminal counts, including aggravated robbery, motor vehicle theft and being a restricted person in possession of a weapon.

Boutain is accused of slitting Ingle's throat because he thought Ingle flirted with his wife, authorities said. Police said Boutain and his wife then drove Ingle's vehicle to Salt Lake City, where Boutain killed University of Utah student ChenWei Guo.

Boutain pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Boutain is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.
