Search Continues For Lookout Mountain Youth Center Escapee
Quinn Scaggs, 17, is considered a violent offender, according to the Colorado Department of Human Services.
GOLDEN CO — Police are continuing their search for a teenager who escaped from the Lookout Mountain Youth Services Center in Golden early Tuesday morning.
Quinn Scaggs, 17, was reported missing from his room shortly after midnight. He's considered a violent offender, according to the Colorado Department of Human Services.
Scaggs removed the window from his ground floor room and used bed sheets tied together to escape over the perimeter fence, officials said.

Golden police searched the campus and surrounding area and will be conducting the criminal investigation. A K-9 team from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office's and a drone from the Boulder Police Department also helped with the search, but Scaggs was not found.

Scaggs is described as 6’2”, 160 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo above his right eyebrow that says, “Loyalty”. If you see Scaggs, call 9-1-1.
Other inmate escapes and violence have been reported at the youth center over the past year.
Inmates were involved in a riot earlier this year, injuring ten staff members, police said.
In April, the center was locked down and searched after death threats were made against five guards. Rumors that someone was "going to throw a gun over the fence" had been intercepted by staff, and a search unearthed a homemade shank, but no gun. Two inmates were transferred to another facility after the incident.
Also in April, A 15-year-old who was described as a "violent offender" escaped from the facility. He was caught soon after.
