Youth Citizens' Academy To Give Kids View Of Law Enforcement
A five-day camp for students ages 13-17 is meant to give teens a glimpse of police work.

GOLDEN, CO – For young people who want to get a first-hand look at law enforcement, the Golden Police is offering a FREE five-day free Youth Citizens' Academy June 10-14.
In a a combination of classroom lectures and hands-on training, teens between the ages of 13-17 will learn about tasers, K-9 demonstrations, crime scene investigations, evidence collection, firearms safety and get a tour of the jail, the department said in a press release.
"Since interactions between police and young citizens are often negative, the Academy also gives both the officers and the students an opportunity to interact with each other in an environment that is educational and non-threatening," the department said in a statement.
