Arapahoe County Issues Coronavirus Warning Ahead Of Labor Day
"This promising streak will only be as durable as the actions of our residents," county commissioners said.
ARAPAHOE COUNTY, CO — Public health officials around the nation are warning of a possible surge of coronavirus cases after the Labor Day weekend. After July 4, Colorado saw a spike in cases, but local leaders are hoping to retain their variances in September.
The majority of Arapahoe County businesses and residents have adhered to coronavirus guidelines throughout August, and the county has been able to maintain its variance, commissioners said.
"This promising streak will only be as durable as the actions of our residents," the county said in a news release.

"As much as we understand everyone’s desire to attend a barbecue, hang out with friends and extended family, or simply be out and about on Labor Day weekend, all these options are still risky. This doesn’t mean that you can’t leave the house, but it does mean that it’s incumbent upon all of us to redouble our efforts to maintain the practices that we know will slow or stop the spread of the coronavirus."
If the county loses its variance, some businesses would be forced to scale back their services. Others may even have to close.
