A new report names Colorado's 20 safest cities, based on FBI crime statistics.

COLORADO — Frederick is the safest place to live in Colorado in 2021, according to a new report.
SafeWise ranked Colorado's 20 safest cities based on the most recent FBI crime report statistics and census population data.
The evaluation is based on the number of reported violent crimes — aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery — in each city.

Here are the 20 safest cities in Colorado, according to the ranking:

- Milliken
- Severance
- Lamar
- Firestone
- Eaton
- Cherry Hills Village
- Castle Rock
- Erie
- Dacono
- Louisville
- Manitou Springs
- Carbondale
- Estes Park
- Parker
- Woodland Park
- Avon
- Johnstown
- Fruita
- Littleton

In Denver's metro area, Arvada was ranked No. 31, Thornton was No. 34 and Denver was ranked No. 56. Lakewood did not crack the top 59 cities in the ranking.
Broomfield was ranked No. 22, and Boulder was ranked No. 32.
There were more rapes than robberies statewide, accounting for 18 percent of all violent crime in Colorado, according to the report. This could be due to changes in how rapes are reported.
Aggravated assault made up 64.7 percent of violent crime in the state.
