DENVER, CO — Gov. Jared Polis announced Friday the fourth $1 million winner of Colorado's Comeback Cash vaccine drawing and the second round of five winners in the state's vaccine scholarship program.

And the winner of the fourth $1 million check is ...

Stephanie Sharp, of Douglas County, a child psychologist who's passionate about supporting people with disabilities. Her husband is a nurse, so they both got their shots in January.

“I’ve been in complete and utter shock since learning I’m Colorado’s fourth Comeback Cash winner," Sharp said. "This past year has been challenging for so many people and my heart goes out to those who have experienced hardship. For my family, it's been a tough year, especially as my husband Craig, a nurse at the VA Community Living Center at Fitzsimons in Aurora, was on the frontlines of this pandemic.

"I want to offer my sincere appreciation to Governor Polis and to the state of Colorado for their efforts in efficiently and equitably distributing the vaccine so we can protect ourselves and each other. I encourage my fellow Coloradans who have not yet been vaccinated to consider doing so as soon as possible.”

One more Coloradan is set to become $1 million richer — the next drawing will be held July 7.

Friday's round of scholarship winners:

  • Liza C., of Denver, is the youngest winner yet at age 12. She said she's "thankful and grateful" for the scholarship.
  • Sula Schuyler, 13, of Denver, said she was "psyched" to get her vaccine. She said getting vaccinated is important.
  • Nathan Reseigh, 15, of Boulder, said he hadn't heard about the state's vaccine scholarship, so he was very surprised when his mother gave him the news. He said he feels "blessed."
  • Bay Morrish, 17, of Nederland, said the vaccine allowed him to see his grandma and loved ones.
  • Clara Smith, 17, of Berthoud, said she's also very grateful that she got her vaccine.

Ten more Coloradans between ages 12 and 17 — who have at least one dose of their vaccine — are eligible to each win a $50,000 scholarship.

The scholarship funds will be placed in a CollegeInvest account for the student to use when they pursue postsecondary education, including higher and technical education or credential programs. The funds can be left in the interest-bearing account for future educational use.

The scholarship doesn't have to be used for college — it can also be used for training courses and other types of education, Polis said.
