Cottage Food Safety Training in Arapahoe County
Get certified to create your own goodies at home to sell with this 4-hour class.

CENTENNIAL, CO – Do you have a tasty recipe your friends and family say should be "in all the grocery stores?" Whether your interests lie in concocting your own barbecue sauce, canning fruit preserves or creating any type of homemade delicacy, you can get certified in food safety with a class offered in Centennial.
Colorado State University Extension offers a four-hour certification in Cottage Food Safety Training at the Arapahoe County Extension office on Friday, Oct. 19.
This $40 class gives you a three-year certification to meet requirements for the Colorado Cottage Foods Act, overseen by the Colorado State Dept. of Health & Environment.

The class covers basics of of proper hygiene; preventing cross contamination and cross-contact of food allergens; temperature control for preparation, storage, transporting produce and sales. Find out which foods are allowable under the act. The class also covers product ingredient labeling, packaging requirements, marketing and preparation at altitude.
Class participants who pass the class test receive a laminated safety certificate. They are also admitted into an online community of more than 1,000 other cottage food entrepreneurs to ask and answer questions.
