1 Dead, 9 Injured In Crash On I-25 Near Castle Rock
One person was killed and multiple people were injured, Colorado State Patrol said.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO — A multi-vehicle crash Monday near Castle Rock left one person dead and nine others injured, Colorado State Patrol said.
State troopers were called to Interstate 25 after they received a report of a vehicle collision with an elk. A 21-year-old driver had an 18-year-old passenger in a Chevy Trailblazer, when he struck the animal, the agency said. He pulled the vehicle over, and another 21-year-old stopped to help. All three got out of their vehicles.
A Toyota 4Runner then struck the elk and hit the 18-year-old and the Trailblazer, which struck the two young men, state troopers said. All three were thrown over a concrete barrier into northbound lanes.

A Dodge Nitro then collided with the 4Runner and a Kia Forte.
The 18-year-old was pronounced dead soon after, Colorado State Patrol said. Both 21-year-olds were injured and taken to area hospitals, but as of Monday evening, their condition was not known.

The 70-year-old driver of the Toyota suffered serious injuries, and his 69-year-old passenger sustained life-threatening injuries, the agency said.

Dodge Nitro SUV:
-30-year-old male driver, sustained serious injuries.
-30-year-old female passenger, unknown injuries.
-10-year-old female passenger, sustained serious injuries.
-10-year-old male passenger, not injured but transported.
Kia Forte:
-31-year-old female driver from Colorado Springs, sustained minor injuries.
