2 Killed In Plane Crash East Of Lone Tree
Two people and a dog died in a plane crash near South Peoria Street and Ridgegate Parkway, fire officials said.

LONE TREE, CO — Two people and a dog died Wednesday in a plane crash east of Lone Tree, fire officials said.
The aircraft hit an electrical line and went down near South Peoria Street and Ridgegate Parkway, according to South Metro Fire Rescue. A plume of black smoke was seen from miles away in the area.
The crash caused a bush fire and downed power lines, but as of 2:30 p.m., the bush fire was under control, the agency said. No homes were under threat.

"Units are being careful around electrical lines until charge is mitigated," South Metro Fire Rescue said.

The aircraft was a single prop Lancair Evolution plane that was heading to Centennial Airport, according to Kim Spuhler, a public information officer with South Metro Fire.
Multiple agencies responded to the crash.
An investigation was underway.
