Sterling Ranch Shooting Was Apparent Self-Defense: Sheriff
A Littleton man who was shot to death has been identified.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO — A Sterling Ranch resident shot and killed an intruder Saturday in apparent self-defense, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The people who lived in the home knew the intruder, detectives said.
The Douglas County Coroner has identified the man who was killed as Stan Collins, 59, of Littleton.
Collins went into the home, in the 9000 block of Fraser River Street, around 6:15 p.m., the sheriff's office said. A person who lived in the home then shot and killed him.

The resident's identity has not been released, and no charges have been filed.

Collins was armed with a gun when he went into the home, according to a report by The Denver Post.
