Vehicle thefts in Denver's metro area have surged since the pandemic hit. Here's a list of the most stolen models so far this year.

DENVER, CO — Most counties in Denver's metro area have seen a surge in vehicle thefts since the pandemic began, according to a new report by Colorado's Metropolitan Auto Theft Task Force.

Compared to 2019, vehicle thefts rose in Denver's metro area by 55 percent in 2020, the task force said.

The car you own may determine your risk of auto theft, according to the report.

Here are the most stolen vehicle models in metro Denver so far this year:

An average of 74 vehicles have been stolen each day in Denver's metro area so far this year — more than double the average daily number stolen in 2019, the task force said.

Chevrolet Silverados have also been the most stolen vehicle so far in 2021 across Colorado, according to the report.

The task force estimated that vehicle thefts have cost Colorado more than $77 billion so far this year.
