Voter Fraud From Mail-In Balloting is Rare

A recent article from 9News hails Colorado as a leader in mail-in ballot voting (April 9, 2020). The law went into effect in 2013 and allows all voters to get a ballot in the mail. In the last presidential election in 2016, nearly three-out-of-four voters returned their mail-in ballots in Colorado, the article noted.

President Trump has opposed mail-in balloting calling it corrupt. He recently took to Twitter to oppose what he said was Michigan's recent mailing of absentee ballots to the state's voters. "This was done illegally and without authorization by a rogue Secretary of State. I will ask to hold up funding to Michigan if they want to go down this Voter Fraud path!" the president tweeted. Trump has threatened Nevada in a similar way.

Americans in every state should be allowed to vote by mail if they choose to especially in the middle of a pandemic and if they are worried about their health. Mail-in voting does not create measurable voter fraud, which is rare in our system. It is a powerful moment in our history right now and important that we stand up to him to ensure that everyone can access mail-in ballots if they choose. Trump is worried about his re-election prospects, which is why he is eager to attack mail-in voting. We need a new administration that lets every American use their voice to vote.
