CT Weather: Damaging Winds Expected To Cause Power Outages
Wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are predicted in Connecticut, and power outages are a concern, according to forecasters.
Stormy weather is expected to sweep through Connecticut starting later today, with rain, potential thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour, according to meteorologists.
The National Weather Service has a high wind watch in effect for Connecticut from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning.
The state is expected to experience west winds of up to 30 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 60 mph possible. Damaging winds could knock down trees and power lines, making widespread power outages possible, according to the National Weather Service.

It also cautions that rain and thunderstorms are likely tonight, mainly before 11 p.m.
WFSB predicts the wind will ramp up during the afternoon hours today. It is calling today a ?First Alert Weather Day,? and anticipates intensifying wind gusts to exceed 50 miles per hour tonight and into early Thursday.

?Downpours and isolated storms can?t be ruled out,? WFSB reports.

The station advises state residents to secure loose yard items and charge devices.
?The strong winds could knock down limbs and weak trees, and cause power outages,? WFSB reports. ?This is also occurring when many are trying to sleep and most bedrooms are on the second floor and so if your area gets upgraded to a high wind warning, you might want to sleep at a lower level just in case a tree gets knocked down and falls into your house. Remember to stay away from windows!?
Meteorologists predict the wind will calm down on Thursday, but it will continue to be breezy. The National Weather Service predicts wind gusts on Thursday of 32 to 41 miles per hour.
Friday is expected to be sunny during the day, with another round of rain Friday night and into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
WFSB predicts there will be a mix of sun and clouds Saturday afternoon, with dry weather on Sunday, followed by more chances of rain.
?We?re still nailing down the exact timing, but neither day appears to be a washout,? WFSB reports.
Daytime temperatures through Sunday will range from the upper 50s to low 60s, according to WFSB and the National Weather Service.
WFSB anticipates much cooler weather starting on Monday, with highs only reaching into the 40s.
