AVFD Requests Modification to Length of Service Award Program Eligibility
The program rewards Avon Volunteer Fire Department members who have been with the fire department for a certain period of time.

Since 1997, the Avon Volunteer Fire Department has rewarded members who served for 15 years in the department as a member benefit.Â
The department has asked the town for permission to reduce the eligibility requirement for the Length of Service Award Program to 10 years.
"The plan was put into place as a recruitment and retention tool," Avon Town Manager Brandon Robertson wrote in the background materials submitted to the council prior to the meeting. "The plan's assets are administered by a sub-committee in consultation with a professional outside consultant. Modifications to the plan require the approval of the town."
The last time the plan was modified was in 2006, Robertson said.Â
Robertson plans to discuss the update as part of his town manager's report. Â
