Behind the Counter: Behavioral Compass Group, LLC

Founder Beth Pritchard tells us about her company in the latest edition of our weekly Avon business Q&A.

Patch: When did your business open? Is it family-run?

Beth Pritchard: "I (Beth Pritchard) am the president and founder of Behavioral Compass Group, LLC, a private company founded in March 2012."

Patch: What services do you offer at your company?

Pritchard: "The professional services we offer include the following: special education advocacy, behavioral management, parent and social skills training (including relationships and job coaching), guardian ad litem and divorce consulting (including life coaching).Although we are located in Avon, we serve clients throughout the State of Connecticut. We provide an individualized and client centered approach to our clients in all areas of our business."

Patch: Why did you decide to open in Avon and what made you interested in your field?

Pritchard: "I selected Avon for the location of Behavioral Compass Group's offices, due to its convenient location, easy parking and high quality business community. The professional services provided by Behavioral Compass Group are centered around assisting children, families and adults with the goal of maximizing their potential and providing direction so our clients can effectively navigate this complicated world we live in. My background includes clinical psychology, applied behavioral analysis, special education and prior corporate legal experience. Through my experience with children who have special needs, being the mother of five children and experience with the dissolution of marriage process, I was prompted to establish Behavioral Compass Group. I am passionate about helping others overcome challenges so they can maximize their potential and move forward with their life. Through many years of professional experience, I continually observed unfulfilled needs in society for the type of services Behavioral Compass Group provides to its clients. For example, in my professional opinion, early effective intervention is critical for children with special needs. Such intervention is likely to result in better outcomes for the child. Therefore, advocating for such child to receive effective interventions is key to ensuring such services are provided in a timely manner. In the special education arena I believe, the disorder will not define the child, the child will define the disorder."

Patch: Do you have a business mantra you live by?

Pritchard: "The business mantra of Behavioral Compass Group, LLC is "providing direction in a complicated world."
