Two local dancers were named national title winners at a competition/

CANTON, CT — Two local dancers from the Connecticut Dance Academy were named national title winners at the Ticket to Broadway National Dance Competition held in Atlantic City in July.
More from the Connecticut Dance Academy:
Kayla Perkins (9) of Canton was crowned Petite Miss Broadway National Title Champion and Gregory Moreno (10) of Avon was named Petite Mr. Broadway National Title Champion. Over one thousand students competed amongst hundreds of entries throughout the week-long event.
Perkins’ dance, “It’s Oh So Quiet”, a Broadway Jazz-style solo choregraphed by Canton resident Sophie Huff, was recognized for the high level of difficulty and Kayla’s strong technique. In Moreno’s Lyrical/Contemporary solo, “Talking to the Moon” choreographed by Artistic Director Diana Perkins of Canton, Gregory was awarded high scores for his passion and emotional connection to the dance.

The two also placed Fourth Runner-Up of all entries during the week with their duo, “When I Was Your Man”. Connecticut Dance Academy’s Junior Acrobatic Team placed first overall in their age division with “Cats”, featuring Brooke Barcikowski, Emma Barcikowski, Tatum DeSouza, Isabella Fasano, Sophie Fasano, Ashleigh Faust, Gisele Kawa, Katerina Mouradova, Kayla Perkins, and Cecelia Reitze. Many other dancers from the studio also placed in the top ten in their age divisions.
These awards were earned in just Connecticut Dance Academy’s second year competing following their Junior
Team placing First Overall at their first National Championship in 2017. The studio has quickly become a
premier dance facility in the Farmington Valley and was recently ranked Top Dance Studio in the Hartford
Courant/CT Now Readers Poll. Owner and Artistic Director, Diana Perkins, credits the tremendous success of the studio to her focus on coupling highly-qualified instructors and choreographers with a friendly, family
atmosphere that is welcoming to all students of all abilities.
