Avon Field Hockey Coach Ziemnicki Selected for CT Coaches Hall of Fame
Terri Ziemnicki will be recognized as a Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee in October and formally inducted in November.

UConn football will tackle the University of South Florida on the gridiron Oct. 12, but that's not the only major athletics event taking place at Rentschler Field that day.
Avon High School's varsity field hockey coach Terri Ziemnicki will be recognized as a future Connecticut High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee at halftime of the game, according to an announcement from the Avon High School athletics department.
The award is the highest "achievement a high school coach can receive from their peers," athletics staff said on the Avon High School website. Â
Christopher Tranberg, Avon High School's new principal, wrote to Ziemnicki in July to congratulate her on the achievement.Â
"This recognition clearly represents your dedication to coaching and appropriately celebrates your 25th year as a coach in Avon," Tranberg wrote. "While this recognition is a great source of pride for our community, it is even more special that you are a proud graduate of Avon High. I wish you well as you begin your 25th year of coaching, and I am confident you will continue to serve as a positive role model for the young women of our learning community."
A plaque will be hung at Rentschler in her honor, the statement said. Ziemnicki will be formally inducted at the Aqua Turf in Southington on Nov. 21.Â
