Avon High School Returns To Hybrid Learning Model

Due to the number of coronavirus cases locally and statewide, the high school is returning to a hybrid learning model.

AVON, CT — A recent uptick in cases locally and statewide has caused Avon High School to move back to a hybrid learning model, according to FOX 61. A COVID-19 Alert map released by the state put Avon in the orange zone, with 12.1 cases per 100,000 population.

There have been a few positive cases in schools but none have been acquired in the school setting. The move to virtual and in-person learning is intended to provide better contact tracing. FOX 61 reported.

Across the state, new cases also rose sharply by 502, bringing the total number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in Connecticut to 65,373. Two more people have died from the virus, making the state COVID-19-related death toll 4,569. An additional 22,117 residents were tested in the past day.
