From the Avon Public Library: The Avon Public Library will host a book talk & signing featuring Connecticut author Philip A. Goduti, on Thursday, August 10 at 7:00 pm.
Goduti will discuss his newest book, RFK and MLK: Visions of Hope, 1963 – 1968, which examines the parallel lives of Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. His talk will address how RFK and MLK helped millions of Americans recover from the assassination of John F. Kennedy and inspired hope for a more peaceful society. Through their shared vision, they addressed the pervasive issues of the era--poverty, war and civil rights--and encouraged young people and the disadvantaged throughout the United States and the world.
Philip A. Goduti, Jr. is an adjunct assistant professor of history at Quinnipiac University and teaches U.S. history at Somers High School where he is the 2017 Somers Public Schools Teacher of the Year. He has also written Robert F. Kennedy and the Shaping of Civil Rights, 1960-1964.
