Avon Man Arrested After Standoff With Police

An Avon man is accused of threatening a woman and barricading himself in his home.

AVON, CT — An Avon man barricaded himself in his home and refused to cooperate with police for several hours, according to a statement from police. Officers initially received the call for "a domestic disturbance involving a possible firearm" at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police located the victim, who was uninjured. The suspect was uncooperative, refused to speak with officers, and retreated into his home.

Police set up a perimeter and attempted to communicate with the suspect over several hours, then the North Central Region Emergency Services Team arrived on the scene.

Dave Matteau, 47, was arrested for first-degree threatening. A black rifle-style pellet gun was seized from the scene.
