When he was younger, John was an exceptional athlete and enjoyed playing various sports such as football, basketball, ice hockey and baseball. Baseball proved to be his best sport and was offered to play semi-pro. Later, John became an avid golfer and started the Unionville Golf League at Canton Golf Course.
Prior to retiring in 1989, John owned and ran the Ole Towne Grille Restaurant in Unionville for over 25 years where many of his children later worked, coining the term, ‘It’s a family bar’. After retiring, John and Tess split their time between their Connecticut and North Carolina homes where they thoroughly enjoyed their family, friends, beautiful water, gorgeous sunrises, sunsets and an abundance of golf.

A humble man, he was known for being gentle, kind, generous and welcoming to people of all walks-of-life. He demonstrated patience and forgiveness and held a strong love of family and friends. He could handle or tackle any situation he came across, and like most of the ‘Greatest Generation,’ his actions spoke louder than words. He had great integrity and always did what he said he would do. We will truly miss his big heart, warm smile and zest for living.
John is survived by his 8 children: Kim Droney and husband Richard, John Yabrosky Jr, Amy Yabrosky, Robin Franz and husband Eric, Joel Yabrosky and wife Vicki, Mary Yabrosky and Christopher Foryan, Seth Yabrosky, Michael Yabrosky and wife Nancy, along with 8 grandchildren (Zak, Jessie, Luke, Hannah, Thomas, Katie, Carla, and Becky) and 2 great grandchildren (Nathan and Mariah).
The Yabrosky family would like to extend a warm thanks to all of the staff at Avon Health Center for taking good care of our Dad over the last six years.
