Avon Opens Cooling Centers To Escape The Heat
Due to the forecasted extreme temperatures and humidity over the next several days, Avon is designating two cooling centers.

AVON, CT — Due to the forecasted extreme temperatures and humidity over the next several days, the Town is designating the Avon Senior Center and the Avon Free Public Library as Cooling Centers which will be available for residents to seek relief from the heat.
The Avon Senior Center is located at 635 West Avon Road and staff can be reached at (860) 675-4355 with any questions. Their Cooling Center will be available Monday, 6/28 through Wednesday, 6/30 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note that use of a protective face covering continues to be required when entering their building at this time and continue to social distance whenever possible. We appreciate your understanding.

The Avon Free Public Library is located at 281 Country Club Road and staff can be reached at (860) 673-9712 with any questions. Their Cooling Center will be available Monday, 6/28 through Wednesday, 6/30 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., however there is limited seating at this time. Please note that use of a protective face covering is required of all staff and patrons while in the public areas of the Children's Department (2nd Floor); fully vaccinated staff and patrons will not be required to wear masks on the first floor of the building.
