Avon Police and Bertucci’s to Sponsor Holiday Window Painting

Avon Police Officers and Bertucci’s of Avon are teaming up to sponsor a Holiday Window Painting Contest to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut. The contest will be held at Bertucci’s at 380 West Main Street in Avon on Sunday, December 8th from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Individuals may support Special Olympics CT by either participating in the contest or voting on the window paintings. The registration fee for window decorators is $20 and voting is $1 per ballot, with all proceeds going to Special Olympics. The restaurant will also be holding a Dining for Dollars fundraiser that day, with 15% of the food bill going to Special Olympics when patrons mention “Dining for Dollars.”
The event is a Law Enforcement Torch Run event to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut and support the organization’s year-round sports, health and fitness programs for athletes of all abilities. About the Special Olympics Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run®
The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Connecticut is one of the movement's largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicles. This year-round program involves law enforcement officers from across the state who volunteer their time to raise awareness and funds through events including Tip-a-Cops, Cop-on-Tops, and Jail N’ Bail fundraisers.

In addition, each year in June, over 1,500 officers and athletes carry the Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" through hundreds of cities and towns across the state, covering over 530 miles over three days. The runners run the “Final Leg” and light the ceremonial cauldron during Opening Ceremonies for the Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games.
