Avon Resident, CT Funeral Directors Association Pres. Dies At 48

Alexander J. Scott was the president of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association.

AVON, CT — Alexander J. Scott, of Avon, the president of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association, died June 29. He was 48.

"We are tremendously saddened by the unexpected death of our friend and fellow funeral director, Alexander J. Scott...the beloved 2020 President of the Connecticut Funeral Directors Association," John Cascio, Connecticut Funeral Directors Association’s Board of Directors and Executive Director, said in a statement. "Alex was a vibrant member of our profession and our association, whose compassion and sense of humor endeared him to his peers."

Scott served for 25 years in funeral service and funeral home management in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York.

"Alex’s caring nature and professionalism were especially evident over the past few months during the Coronavirus," Cascio said in a statement. "He tirelessly served the families and friends of those who tragically lost their lives while, on behalf of CFDA, worked with Connecticut media, helping them to educate about the limitations of funeral service during the pandemic, while still providing meaningful send-offs for the deceased."

Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial Duksa Family Funeral Homes in Newington, where Scott was employed for many years, is coordinating the arrangements.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church. He will be laid to rest privately.
