Avon Schools Will Adopt Hybrid Model For Reopening

Avon schools have announced that students will be doing a mix of in-person and virtual learning this fall.

AVON, CT — Avon schools have announced that they will be adopting a hybrid model when students return to school in the fall. School officials described this as a "slower and safer" start to the year.

A document from the district on reopening reads: "Given the recommendation of our Farmington Valley Health Department to initially reopen with reduced capacity in our buildings as well as the considerable discussions we have had in analyzing the best way to transition our staff and students back into our buildings, we must make a change to our reopening plan. Instead of the full reopening as originally planned, we will be starting the 2020-2021 school year utilizing the Hybrid Learning Model, which we devised as a part of the state-required planning process."

Students will return to school in two cohorts with one cohort starting with in-person learning Aug. 31 and the other Sept. 1.
