Avon Spring Athletes Honored
Three teams won conference titles, 33 athletes were named to All-Conference teams, and 13 qualified for All-State honors.

Avon High School ended its longtime membership in the NCCC this spring with some of its best contests ever.
A cold and wet start, some new coaches, and a talented freshman class - which turned in some breakthrough performances - combined to make spring 2015 exciting and memorable.

In all, three teams won conference titles, 33 individual athletes were named to their respective All-Conference teams, and 13 qualified for All-State honors.

Additionally, the school’s growing and highly successful crew and club ultimate Frisbee teams had championship finishes.
Following is a complete list of Avon High School’s spring winners:
Baseball
All-Conference: Justin Olson and Sean Delgallo
Boys Golf
All-Conference: Jake Avery and Tyler Hahn
All-State: Tyler Hahn
Of Note: Hahn is a freshman.
Girls Golf
All-Conference: Christine Bae
Boys Lacrosse
All-Conference: Jake Corrigan and brothers Tyler and Chase Gordon
Girls Lacrosse
All-Conference: Emma Coran, Hannah Davey, Megan Foley and Sammy Maniatty
All-State: Hannah Davey (1st team) Sammy Maniatty (2nd team)
Of Note: Davey scored 103 goals this season, setting a school record.
Boys Tennis
All-Conference: Michael Arciero, Alex Herz, Gabe Levin, Eric Selzer, Michael Thramann, Andre Wang
All-State: Eric Selzer and Alex Herz
Of Note: the team finished second in the state Class M championship.
Girls Tennis
All-Conference: Riley Abate, Gaby Berns, Kendall Held, Olivia Levin and Rachel Selzer
Of Note: the team won the NCCC title and Riley Abate, a freshman, finished 24-1 as the team’s No. 3 singles player.
Boys Track
All-Conference: Geoffrey Kirk and Andrew Blackmore
Girls Track
All-Conference Individual Winners: Carly Carpino, Molly Hamel, Jenny Koo, Kaely Quijano and Carly Regalado
All Conference Relay Team Winners: Karina Bucci, Chamiyah Rowland, Emma Schweitzer, Tara Shayler and Shilpa Donde, Jenny Koo, Carly Regalado and Emma Schweitzer
All-State Individual Winners: Molly Hamel, Kaely Quijano
All-State Relay Team Winners: Tara Shayler, Emma Schweitzer, Carly Carpino, Chamiyah Rowland, Jenn Koo, Shilpa Donde and Carly Regalado.
Of Note: The team won the NCCC title.
Crew
Avon’s crew program continues to grow and succeed. The team had over 90 rowers this season and six are going on to row in college.
Conference performance: Both the Boys and Girls First Varsity 4 Boats, and the Novice Girls 8 Boat finished the regular season undefeated.
State Performance: The girls novice 8 boat also finished first at the CT Public School Rowing Association Championships, while the girls Varsity (1st and 2nd )boats finished 2nd place and the boys 8 boat made it to the finals for the first time in the program’s history.
Ultimate Frisbee
Coached by award-winning girls soccer coach Jim Murray, and led by seniors Caleb Paul and Jack Young and freshman Nick Guerrero, the club team won the State Division II championship.
