Avon Toddler In Lethal Mushroom Scare: Report
The young boy was rushed to the hospital after his parents learned he ingested a dangerous mushroom from his yard.
AVON, CT — The Teffs of Avon experienced one of those scary events last week that parents hope to avoid, having to rush their young child to the hospital because he accidentally ate something he shouldn't, reports Fox61.
Adam and Carissa's toddler son, Rowan, ate a potentially lethal mushroom he found in his backyard, which prompted the couple to whisk their son to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, where the family spent 16 hours while Rowan was under care.
The website Sciencing.com gives a primer on poisonous mushrooms, and warns people to never eat one they can't positively identify.

Physicians gave Rowan a liquid activated charcoal medication, which is used to soak up toxins in body before they can potentially damage the liver.
Rowan turned out to be OK and never developed symptoms, but Carissa warns parents to check their yards for little, white mushrooms because some of them might be dangerous.
