The Avon Democrats met on Tuesday and selected five people who will run.

The Avon Democrats met on Tuesday and five people were nominated to run for the Board of Education, reports the Hartford Courant.
Running for the school board are incumbents Houston Putnam Lowry and Wendy Howard, along with newcomers Jackie Blea, Debra Chute, and Jame Scarlett.

That is a full slate of candidates for the board and this is the first time in many years the party has been able to do that.
If all five Democrats who were nominated win, they will have a majority on the school board. But that would be the only elected government panel Democrats have a chance of winning this year.

Town Republicans will meet on Wednesday to nominate their candidates.
