ESPN Asks Commentators To Take Pay Cut

With nearly every major sporting event postponed or canceled, the network is requesting its commentators to take a pay cut.

BRISTOL, CT — The world of sports has been put on hold, so ESPN is requesting that its 100 commentators take a 15 percent pay cut over the next three months, according to Hartford Business Journal. The request follows the network's executives taking 20 to 30 percent pay cuts.

The moves are designed to avoid furloughs in other parts of the company, according to Hartford Business Journal. Disney, ESPN's parent company, has furloughed employees "whose jobs aren't necessary at this time."
