Gifts of Love Needs Donations to Meet the Expanding Need

AVON, CT, Mar. 26, 2020 – Gifts of Love is calling upon the community to help them meet the expanding need for food and toiletries. They also need financial donations to meet the need as it grows.

“We are going through more food and toiletries than normal because we’ve had to change the way our clients get it,” says Gifts of Love Executive Director Susan Pribyson. “Because of the need for social distancing, we can no longer let clients into the building to select their own food. Instead, we are giving them pre-packed bags of food and much-needed toiletries. The result is that our pantry is running low on those items.”

In particular, the organization needs:

• Beans
• Bread
• Canned fruit
• Canned tuna or chicken
• Pasta
• Peanut butter
• Snacks
• Soups
• Snacks
• Toiletries

Those wishing to donate food can bring it to the Gifts of Love office at 34 East Main Street in Avon. The donor should knock and leave the food, to comply with the need for social distancing. Or they can call Gifts of Love at 860-676-2323 to arrange a drop-off time.

The organization is also turning to the community for financial support to help them meet the escalating need. Those wishing to donate should go to the “Donate Now” button on the organization’s website: GiftsOfLove.org.

“This community has always reached out with generosity and heart to help us meet the needs of the people who depend on us. It’s more important now than ever. We are confident they will come through to help us continue to help our neighbors,” said Pribyson.
