Juvenile Arrested In Avon Drug-Deal Shooting

A 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody after a shooting near the Avon-Canton town line.

AVON, CT — Police arrested a juvenile suspect in an Avon shooting that appears to be the result of a drug deal gone wrong, according to FOX 61. A 17-year-old suspect was charged with assault with a deadly weapon in connection to the Saturday incident.

The suspect is accused of shooting a 20-year-old man in the area of 7 Hillcrest Drive just after 8:30 p.m., according to WFSB. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Francis Hospital.

About an hour after the incident, police from several area towns established a perimeter around 14 Elizabeth Road in Canton.

The two homes are about a tenth of a mile apart on opposite sides of the Avon-Canton town line, FOX 61 reported. Police obtained a search warrant and seized a gun from the home.

Police said there are no further public safety concerns at this time. The case remains under investigation.
