Obituary: Howard Jacob, 93, Of Avon

AVON, CT - Howard Earl Jacob, 93, of Avon, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, fell asleep in the Lord, Sunday, October 28, 2018. Born in Pittsfield, MA, son of the late Louis and Bessie (Rothwell) Jacob, he was raised there and served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII.

He graduated from The Aeronautical University at Chicago in 1948. He was employed by GE in Schenectady, NY where he worked on the HERMES Project. He later transferred to Plainville and he worked for GE until his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, New Britain. He was predeceased by his wife Marimon (Mulvaney) Jacob, sisters Evelyn Eastwood and JoAnn Wells, and grandson Thomas and great-granddaughter Ashlynn.

He leaves his nine children, H. James and his wife Dava, Michael A. and his wife Teresa, John L. and his wife Sharon, and Mark G.; Ann J. Schlain and companion Antonio Santana, Moira J. Romine and her husband Gary, Christine M. Jacob, Frances M. Sitton and her husband Roger, and Rita J. Reber and her husband James; 13 Grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His family would like to offer special thanks to the family of the late Elaine Dow for many years of friendship. They would also like to thank his caregiver/companion Tom Danielewicz for his compassionate care and support.

Howard’s family will receive friends Monday, November 5. 2018 from 6-8 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Family will gather at the funeral home Tuesday Nov. 6, 2018 at 9 am followed by a Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial, 10 am at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, 121 Beaver Street, New Britain. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, New Britain. Contributions may be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church in his memory.
