Republican Candidates Selected in Avon

Avon Republicans met on Wednesday to decide who will be running in the fall, reports the Hartford Courant.

There will be many familiar names on the ballot as almost everyone running seeking re-election. The exception is James Speich, who is on the board of finance and was nominated for the town council.

If Speich wins he would be the only change in the Republican line-up on the elected panels and would replace Douglas Evans, who is not seeking re-election.

Additional nominees for the council were Mark Zacchio, Heather Maguire, and William Stokesbury. For the finance board, Thomas Harrison and Dean Hamilton were nominated. Nominees for the board of education are Jeff Bernetich, Brian Glenn, and Ames Shea.
