Rotary Club of Avon-Canton Raises Funds for Local Charities
The Rotary of Avon-Canton raised over $750 during their annual Buddy Poppy drive.

From the desk of The Rotary Club of Avon-Canton: The Rotary of Avon-Canton recently made a donation of $750 to the Gildo T. Consolini Post 3772, Avon, CT for their annual Buddy Poppy Drive. The Drive lasted for 11 days every May as Post members distribute the familiar red paper poppies outside Walmart in Avon, ShopRite in Canton and Shop & Shop in Simsbury before Memorial Day. The funds collected are distributed to local charities that benefit veterans and current military serving overseas. Mr. Paul Mikkelson, Co-Chair, Community Services Committee, Rotary of Avon-Canton presents the check to Lee Wilson (third from left), Chairman of the Post’s Buddy Poppy Drive.
