Two Avon facilities have had numerous residents contract the virus.

A Farmington Valley Health District official told The Hartford Courant that it's believed that a Brookside resident who tested positive spread the virus to Avon Health Care via two workers. It's not clear if the outbreak at the two facilities has spread to the larger community.

The news comes as the state's testing positivity rate has increased recently, hitting 2.4 percent Tuesday with 320 new cases.
