Persons whose rights as to age, citizenship, and residence mature after October 27th may apply to vote until November 2nd. Election Day Registration will be held at the ROV Office on November 3, 2020. Q2: Will you vote in-person or by absentee ballot? A. I will vote in-person. • The Secretary of the State sent out applications for absentee ballots to all active, registered voters in mid-September. If you did not receive an absentee ballot application in the mail, you may download an application HERE, or call the Town Clerk’s Office at (860) 409-4310 to request that an application be mailed to you. If you filled out an application for the August Primary, you still need to fill out an application for November.
  • Fill out the application and get it to the Town Clerk ASAP via mail or via the Absentee Ballot Drop Box located outside of the Town Clerk’s Office (Town Hall Building #2). The box is checked daily and the contents go straight to the Town Clerk.
  • The Town Clerk’s Office can begin distributing ballots to applicants via mail on October 2nd. If time is of the essence and you need a ballot immediately, you may come to the Town Clerk’s Office to request one. However, please be advised that voters will be required to fill out their applications and vote their ballots outside or in their vehicles to adhere to the Town’s social distancing protocols. If possible, we recommend bringing a completed application to the Office with you. Please note that writing implements will not be made available for public use so please bring your own.
  • Once you receive your ballot, complete it in accordance with the provided instructions (be sure to sign Envelope B or it will not be counted!). We encourage voters to drop their completed absentee ballots in the secure drop box located outside of the Town Clerk’s Office (Building #2, Avon Town Hall) as an alternative to U.S. Mail. Voters should use the drop box located in Avon. Depositing your ballot in another town’s box will only delay receipt of your ballot by the Avon Town Clerk because it will need to be placed in the U.S. Mail to get to the correct town hall.
  • Absentee ballots must be RECEIVED (not postmarked!) by the Town by 8:00 p.m. on November 3, 2020 in order to be counted. For this reason we encourage voters to complete and submit their absentee ballots early. Don’t wait until the last minute. Click HERE to track the status of your absentee ballot.

Have Questions? Call the Registrar of Voters at (860) 409-4350 for questions about Voter Registration and Polling locations or call the Town Clerk’s Office at (860) 409-4310 for questions about Absentee Ballots. We thank you for voting!
