Bethel Firefighters Extinguish Blaze At Home Of Their Chief
At first, firefighters didn't know the home they were being called to save belonged to their boss.

BETHEL, CT — Firefighters extinguished a blaze on Saturday morning at the home of Fire Department Chief Scott Murphy. One resident was taken to Danbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Crews from the Bethel FD and Stony Hill Volunteer Company were alerted to a structure fire on Reservoir Street a 7:30 a.m. Initial reports described fire in the walls, and first responders found heavy fire showing from the rear porch.
Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and prevented extension to the rest of the home, according to their report.

"Yes it was my house this morning that caught fire. It started in the wall by the chimney. The marshal is investigating so I can not say exactly what happened," Murphy posted to Facebook.
Officials said one resident was taken to Danbury Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period of time opening up walls to gain access to affected areas.

"The fire damage was contained to mostly the exterior and minimal to the kitchen, smoke and water damage throughout," Murphy said in his post. "Again we thank you all."
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal's Office.
