BETHEL, CT – Bethel Police Chief Jeff Finch was honored this week for his 23 years of service with a retirement ceremony on Monday complete with a flag presentation and farewell.

In a message posted to the Bethel Police Department Facebookpage, the department thanked Chief Finch for his "strength, experience, knowledge, reformation and above all respect."

"As we congratulate you on your retirement, may we honor your service by living up to your example," the department said in the post. "Thank you for all you have taught us, guided us through, and fought for in the name of improving who we are."

The department held a socially-distant flag ceremony and breakfast in honor of Chief Finch's retirement, attended by member of the force as well as community members.

"It's been a long time and I don't know what else to say but thank you very much," Finch said at the ceremony, as he shook the hand of each officer in attendance.
