Bethel Small Business Spotlight: Karen Gilmore, Realtor
Our small business series shines a light on Bethel business owners. This week we're featuring a local real estate agent.

Every local business has a story worth sharing with the community. And that’s the belief behind this exciting series — to shine the spotlight on all our favorite local businesses, and to learn a little about the ones we may not know that well.

Why start a business in this town?
I work for a residential real estate agency and my client base is in Bethel, Brookfield and Danbury, as well as surrounding areas including Northern Westchester County. I love working in Bethel. After years of working in New York, I feel like I am finally where I belong.
What business are you in?
Real estate.
What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?
Being the mother of six children, I have faced my fair share of challenges and I have always put my children first. Now that my children are grown, I enjoy being able to work full time as a realtor.
What’s been your proudest achievement since opening?
One of my most rewarding moments was when I was able to find a rental home for a family who was living in a hotel for 5 years. They were so grateful to finally be in their own home.
How does your business give back to the community?
My office is filled with the most generous agents who do so much to help local charities like Anne’s Place and Dorothy Day. They make me proud to be a part of their team.
