Bethel Small Business Spotlight: Wade’s Piano Center LLC

Our business series features local business owners. This week we feature a local music store.

BETHEL, CT — Our Small Business Spotlight shines a light on local businesses we may not know that well.

How did you come up with the name? No story there— we found a name that we could use as a domain name.

Why start a business in this town? Damon has been teaching Music Lessons privately in Fairfield County for 20+ years and a Piano Technician for 10+. When it came time to open our own music store our first thought was our wonderful small town of Bethel. We can’t imagine a better starting place for our business.

Briefly, what business are you in? Music! We teach music lessons to all ages, all levels and all styles. We tune, recondition and sell pianos. Damon tunes in Fairfield County and Lower Litchfield County. Our clients range from private residential to school systems including Bethel and Danbury and other various institutions. We repair, rebuild and custom build guitars. Damon repairs guitars and other instruments, rebuilt and or custom made guitars to just for a client’s dream guitar.

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner? Like many small business owners we wear many hats during regular operations. The biggest challenge is always finding the right balance of working in our business and on our business— all while balancing a young growing family.

What’s been your favorite moment or proudest achievement since opening? Damon’s favorite moments are always when his students have their light bulb moment. For some especially our younger students: it’s when we have a recital, their entire family comes to celebrate their hard work and they play their piece of music better than they ever have. For others often our older or adult students: it’s when they finally figure out how to play that really hard section of a song they have been working on for a long time.

How does your business give back or get involved in the community? We participate in various community events. Our favorite to date is when we spin records for town events like the Bethel Tree Lighting on Black Friday and SummerFest.
