Blue Jay Orchards' apple cider and apple cider doughnuts have proven popular with autumn foliage tourists, as well as locals, for 85 years

BETHEL, CT — Blue Jay Orchards, one of the few remaining commercial orchards in Fairfield County and a fixture on Plumtrees Roads for 85 years, is up for sale.

The property has been listed with realtor Ryer Associates for $4,750,000. Jeff Ryer said it has been on the market for around four to six months.

Ryer has "no clue" how long he .may wait for a buyer. "It's not like it's just another raised ranch" he told Patch.

Blue Jay Orchards' apple cider and apple cider doughnuts have proven popular with autumn foliage tourists, as well as locals. Although grown elsewhere, pumpkins are another perennial bestseller at the farm stand.

The listing on the commercial real estate exchange underscores for potential buyers that "In 2019 CT legalized hemp growing and processing - this site may be a prime location for such crop." Ryer said that such a crop change would likely require approval from the Town of Bethel.
