Dangerous Conditions: Bethel Fire Crews Tackle Fast-Moving Blaze

BETHEL, CT — Firefighters acted swiftly Monday afternoon to corral a brush fire on Old Hawleyville Road.

Crews from Stony Hill and Bethel both responded to the fast-moving blaze that was sweeping across a large property. The fire was extinguished before it came up the hill and threatened the home, fire officials said.

On social media officials took the opportunity to remind residents that the warnings from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection "aren't a joke." DEEP posts a daily "danger report" that assesses that risk for forest fires in the area.
