Luxury Apartments May Be Coming to Stony Hill

Bethel's Stony Hill section could soon see more residential development in the form of luxury apartments if approved.

While proposals are being submitted for affordable housing in downtown Bethel, Hunter Gregory Realty has proposed to build luxury condos in the Stony Hill area, according to the News Times.

Westport-based Hunter Gregory Realty is the owner/operator of Maplewood, according to their LinkedIn page, and purchased the land from the Bridgeport Diocese. A spokesman for the diocese told the News Times in March that they sold nearly 10 acres to Hunter Gregory Realty. The proposed luxury condos will be located next to Copper Square luxury townhomes, which were recently opened in December of 2014.

Greg Smith, owner of Hunter Gregory Realty, told the paper that once approvals are received, they will begin construction which is estimated to take about a year. According to the News Times, rentals will range from $1,200 for a studio apartment to $2,800 for a two-bedroom unit.
