SUV Involved in Rollover Crash Was Reported Stolen: Police

An SUV that was involved in a crash near Bethel that injured two on Thursday had been reported stolen, according to Danbury police.

DANBURY, CT — State Police Trooper Kelly Grant said the the vehicle involved in the accident had previously been reported as stolen. According to a police report, the driver of a 1997 Ford Explorer was driving on Mountainville Road in Danbury, near the Bethel town line, when a nearby officer spotted it and recognized the vehicle as stolen.

Police said the officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver, Ricardo Andre, 33, ignored the officer, sped off and crashed on to a property on Mountainville Road, flipping the vehicle. Police said he extricated himself from the vehicle with injuries and was later transported to the hospital along with his unidentified female passenger.

According to the police report, the Ford Explorer belongs to Marvin Payton of Danbury.
