WEATHER UPDATE: Bethel's Weekend Weather Forecast Improves

We'll let you know which day the sun is now expected to make an appearance and the latest details on this weekend's forecast.

Yesterday’s National Weather Service forecast for the weekend looked pretty gloomy as there was no mention of the sun appearing again until Tuesday at the earliest.

As we learn with the weather forecast, it can change quickly, and in this case change is a good thing.

If you have outdoor plans, a trip to the beach or a cookout planned with family and friends, then Saturday looks to be your best bet this weekend.

The updated and revised forecast for Saturday now calls for partly sunny skies and a “slight chance” of showers and a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. But the chance for unsettled weather is now just 20 percent. Yesterday, the precipitation chance was at 50 percent.

The entire state is expected to see some sunshine on Saturday now except New London County, where skies will be mostly cloudy and a 30 percent chance of showers is possible.

Sunday’s forecast still calls for mostly cloudy skies for all of Connecticut and the chance for showers is now 40 percent, which is a decrease from yesterday’s National Weather Service prediction.

And unfortunately, the National Weather Service got Friday’s weather forecast correct as rain and possibly a thunderstorm are predicted up until midnight tonight, with anyway from a quarter to three quarters of an inch of rain expected.

A “Hazardous Weather Outlook” has been issued for Hartford and Tolland counties for Friday for a “moderate risk” of heavy rain leading to poor drainage and flooding concerns.

Have a great weekend!
