RIDGEFIELD, CT - What do you get when you combine 55 baby lambs, half a dozen baby pigs, two alpacas and some chickens? Lots of "aaawws" and "oooohs!"

Dina Brewster, owner of The Hickories Farm on Lounsbury Road in Ridgefield, is planning their first baby animals farm tour of the season on April 9 at 10 a.m. The tour is open to all ages and free to CSA members. Non-members pay $10 per person and space is limited, so reserve your spot here.

At last count, there were 55 baby lambs with one ewe ready to add more to the flock at any given moment. The farm also has two alpacas, chickens and of course a heaping helping of fresh, USDA certified organic fruits and vegetables.

"The alpacas guard the sheep but need to be introduced very slowly to the baby lambs," Brewster said. "We have one of the best livestock managers in the state. We grow food but we also grow farmers."

The Hickories Farm raises USDA certified organic fruits and vegetables from seedlings and produces over 160 different varieties for harvesting during their four-season a year.

The farm store is currently open every weekend from 10 a.m. - until 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Starting in May it will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. The CSA pickup from is 2 - 7 p.m.
