First Selectman Scalettar Wins Re-election, Other Woodbridge Election Results

Scalettar squeaked by rival Cathy Wick, receiving 1,579 votes to Wick's 1,523 -- a 56-vote difference, according to preliminary results.

Woodbridge First Selectman Ellen Scalettar won re-election in Monday’s voting for town offices, beating Republican Cathy Wick by a narrow margin of 56 votes out of 3,102 cast for the two candidates — a 1.8 percent difference.

Scalettar’s vote total was 1,579 (50.9 percent) to Wick’s 1,523 (49.1 percent).

The vote was a rematch for the two candidates — Scalettar, a Democrat, had won election two years ago after joining the race late on the death of former First Selectman Ed Sheehy, according to the New Haven Register. Scalettar said she was pleased to have been re-elected after conducting a positive campaign; Wick said she was pleased to have at least finished not far behind, the newspaper reported.
