Man Arrested In Fatal Bethany Crash: Police
A Prospect man was arrested in connection to a 2018 wreck.
BETHANY, CT — State police said they have arrested a man in connection with a 2018 fatal accident. Michael Rodriguez, 26, was charged with evading responsibility resulting in serious injury or death.
He was released on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Haven Superior Court on June 1.
According to court documents, a state trooper arrived following reports of a dead man on the side of the road on Nov. 2018 on Route 63. The victim was Tony Goncalves, 25.

Rodrgiuez returned to the scene to inform police that he believed he had struck a deer near where the pedestrian had been hit at 3 a.m. and wanted to "clear his name," according to court documents.
He told police at the time that he did not initially report the accident because his 1999 Jeep Cherokee was unregistered and uninsured.

Following an investigation, police determined that Rodriguez's car was involved in the fatal accident and that he "did not stop or report the accident to police."
